Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an ancient form of medicine that has spanned more than 2500 years in history.
It has evolved and developed into a sophisticated system of medicine that is widely practiced in many parts of the world today, particularly east Asia. Chinese medicine treatments include herbal medicine, acupuncture, medical massage (Tui Na), moxibustion, cupping, exercise (Qi Gong, Tai Ji Quan) and dietary therapy.
In modern practice, Chinese medicine is effective in the treatment and management of a wide range of diseases: from common ailments such as colds, coughs to chronic illness such as autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, stroke, etc.,. In the west, this ancient medicine is commonly used (sometimes integrated with western medicine) to treat pain, addiction, fertility, emotional conditions (PTSD, anxiety, depression), allergies, digestive issues, chronic degenerative conditions and neurological disorders. More studies are still being conducted in the west on efficacies, modalities and theories of Chinese medicine.
However the core of Chinese medicine theory focuses on strengthening one’s defense to encourage healing and maintaining optimal health.
More than a medicinal system, Chinese medicine is a philosophy - that when one lives closely with the rhythm of nature, environment and seasons, one will achieve harmony of mind, body and spirit.
